What's New in UD6 1.03.00

If you are currently using UD6 1.03 beta 2 you must uninstall it before installing UD6 1.03 beta 3.

March Hare recommend that you uninstall all other previous versions of UD6 using the Windows Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs function, before installing UD6 CMtool Driver 1.03.00.

Please read the sections What's New in UD6 1.03.00 Beta 1 and What's New in UD6 1.03.00 Beta 2 and What's New in UD6 1.03.00 Beta 3 if you have not already done so.

New to 1.03.00 are:

• UD6 now uses cautious locking by default (was previously optimistic locking).
• Fields with a value of zero now show that value in the XML file.
• Enhanced locking support including "exclusive write access" to prevent conflicts while file changes are made in a non version controlled environment.
• defined entities can now have primary keys with spaces "tableswithspaces".
• Enhanced error messages.
• German translation. (some documentation and some messages may appear in English)
• Includes HTML Help 1.40.
• Solaris 64 bit Support.
• Support for Windows XP in the installer.
• Improved support for Japanese messages stored in Uniface using UD6.
• SQL Workbench allows "get file" from server.
• Bug fixes.

New users should use UD6 1.03.00 as your first installation.

Recommendations for users of UD6 1.03 Beta 3:

Existing users should upgrade their production systems to UD6 1.03.00, however please use your existing joins, xlinks and (optionally) ofields configuration files (you will need to upgrade ofields if you are also upgrading Uniface. If you have not previously had the optlocking feature disabled then you should use the ASN settings optlocking enable to maintain existing functionality with the Beta 3 release:

Existing users should upgrade their production systems to UD6 1.03.00, however please use your existing joins, xlinks and (optionally) ofields configuration files (you will need to upgrade ofields if you are also upgrading Uniface. Existing users may upgrade their production systems to UD6 1.03.00, however please use your existing configuration files. You will need to upgrade ofields if you are also upgrading Uniface.

Advanced users may wish to integrate their previous joins file (and other configuration files) with the new ones. The new configuration files activate these new features:

• Store ULANA (signatures) in UD6.
• Store printer definitions in UD6.
• New filenames for files containing table definitions
• New directory structure

Issues for exising users:

You should be aware of the issues for all users listed in Beta 1, 2 and 3.

Issues with Microsoft Internet Explorer

Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 and higher can be used to display the formatted contents of the XML source files. This uses the MSXML software.
